Campbell Wright is a rising star in biathlon, known for his dedication and skills.
Born in Rotorua in New Zeland, he first took up cross-country skiing at Snow Farm before switching to biathlon in 2017. His potential became clear when he placed 6th in the sprint at the 2020 Junior World Championships, later winning gold in the same event in 2023. At the 2020 Youth Olympic Games, he proudly carried New Zealand’s flag and finished 4th in the sprint and 6th in the individual race.
Campbell made his IBU Cup debut in 2021 and soon competed at the World Championships. He made history at the 2022 Olympics as New Zealand’s first-ever biathlete, achieving a strong 32nd place in the individual event. As a teenager, he earned World Cup points, a rare feat previously accomplished by Ole Einar Bjørndalen (the norvegian icon).
In 2023, Campbell began representing the United States to continue his growth and success ranking many times in the top 10 of the World Cup (at present he’s 18th in the global IBU World Cup
standings)
At the 2025 World Championships in Lenzerheide, he won two silver medals in the sprint and pursuit races just beaten by Johannes Thingnes Boe, proving himself as one of biathlon’s most promising athletes.
On top Campbell is a charming guy with an “out of the box character” and for sure someone who’ll make “some noise” in the future and not only for his sport performances.
